Review

✨✨✨✨ ✨ Well, how should this start? My emotions and thoughts are scattered everywhere.

This book is a standalone, but it takes place in the same universe as Echo and the characters of each book are related to one another, so it is best enjoyed if you have already read Echo first. Another thing to keep in mind is that this book, like Echo, is a Dark Romance, so there is a list of content warnings that I don't recommend being ignored.

That said, I proceed with my review, I'll do my best to make it organized, but don't blame me if it's not… it's Kelevra's fault 🥰

The story begins with Kelevra Diar, Imperial Prince, Third in line for the throne of Vitality, as he watches a performance test for sophomore year cadets, where he first sees Rin Varun.

From that moment on, Kel becomes obsessed with Rin, among other things, because he realizes that Rin hides a lot of secrets that Kel wants to discover out of his boredom. And what was supposed to be a game to kill boredom and a one-night stand suddenly becomes an imperial decree of an arranged betrothal.

But there is a problem, well… a lot of problems really.😅

One of them being the fact that both Rin and his identical twin brother, Sila, want to keep a low profile and live without attracting attention, which they can't do if Rin is involved with His Imperial Highness… Kelevra Diar doesn't do disguises.

Why should he? He is:
Sexy
Arrogant
He always gets what he wants without having to ask for it.
Impulsive
He doesn't know the meaning of the word NO
Possessive
A bad boy in every sense of the word with a tragic past included 😉

The story kept me on the verge of a collapse from beginning to end, whether it was the interactions and relationship development between Kel and Rin or the discovery of the secrets of the Varun twins, the hunt for clues to discover the “murderer” on campus. And just when I thought there were no more secrets or plot twists… I was proven wrong… over and over and over again.

What I liked the most is that Kel fell first, and he fell harder. And in his weird and twisted way, he always has Rin's welfare and best interests in mind, being his top priority.

So of course a fell for Kel, how was I supposed not to… I'm not that strong, for Christ’s sake!! Ok, I'm calm down.

I hope the next book (because I'm sure will be more) will be about Sila, as there are many unanswered questions regarding him and his whereabouts, I'm curious.

Review

😵‍💫🤯😳 OMG! I can't believe I had to wait for 98% of the book to get what you're looking for in this book 😅.

Jesus Christ! What a wild ride.

The first 32% of the book was slow and somewhat boring, but this is because it focuses on the construction of the world, giving some details, explanations, and the background of the characters. Once that's over, the real story begins.

Something that kept me on edge throughout the reading is that in many moments the characters first act and then give the reasons, if they give them at all.

I got quite angry with Dante for not admitting who he is even though everyone already knew… Then I realized that it was not about hiding his identity from others, rather it was about him not knowing himself and much less accepting or recognizing himself.

John is a hard-headed Priest 😅 that will do what is necessary to help the townspeople and protect Dante.

The best character in the whole book is Basque and I loved him 🥰

The only thing I can say I didn't like was the list of books that are/will be part of this series, which means I'll have to read them all (Cough, cough… notice the sarcasm 🤭).

✨✨✨✨✨ I don't know what to say… this book was a wild ride, to say the least.

Plot twists that I didn't see coming in each chapter, complex characters with hidden motivations and who will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.

You can not trust anyone…

Of course, there is a love triangle between the main characters. It is quite complicated not only because of the love interest, but also because of the political implications and the relationship between them outside of passion, lust, and love/hate.

“My blood calls for yours, and yours mine.”

We have Acheron, prince of vampires, the epitome of the bad boy concept, he's everything that's wrong with a man, but you're still going to fall for him. There's no way around, Malachy falls, I fell, everyone they will fall for him, it is an undeniable fact.

Malachy is a human, not so human, who wakes up alone and badly injured in a cell with his captor trying to get him out and escape the people who are attacking his house, which he fails to do. Malachy is forced to walk out of a cell alone to end in another. Not only that, but Malachy is unknowingly caught in the middle of a sociopolitical conflict between the Vampire Court and the Clanless.

“Between Scylla and Charybdis.” 👈🏻 That sentence is the best way to exemplify the situation Malachy finds himself in… out of options, most of the time, and everyone around him wants something from him, everyone lies and wants to take advantage of Malachy.

Finally, there is Marcellus, leader of the Clanless, a group of rogue vampires who are against the Vampire Court form of government. He is Malachy's captor and creator, and apparently, the only one who knows about Malachy's true origin and abilities that go beyond what any other dhampir can do and that he obviously has hidden plans for Malachy and his extraordinary abilities. That's not to mention his complicated relationship with Acheron…

Malachy is trying to figure out whom he really is, gain control over his abilities, learn about the complicated relationships of the vampire court, fight his undeniable passion and lust for Acheron, and to top it all off, he's forced to fight and choose sides in a battle that is not his and whose implications he does not understand.

Like I said, it was a wild and unexpected ride, which I totally enjoyed, and I can't wait for the continuation of the story, hopefully and in the next book I have answers to all my questions.

This was supposed to be a nice story to read, something cute and lovely to read on a rainy afternoon with a cup of hot chocolate.

Whenever a promotional banner for the story appeared on the webtoon home page, it was an image of the protagonists smiling, swimming happily in the wide and vast sea... and although it does have scenes like that, the truth is that the story is deep and leaves the reader at many moral and existential crossroads.

Because, on one hand I feel sorry for the suffering of the shark people and I want them to be released from their curse ASAP, but at the same time I don't want them to harm Kappa under any reason or circumstance 💔

😪😪 And as angry as I am with Susca for her actions, the truth is that I would have done the same😵‍💫 It's a situation that nobody wants to be in and I understand that she did what she understood was best to protect Siren. .. her solution was wrong... yes, but she did what she could with what had at hand.

It infuriates me how everyone expects Kappa to solve all their problems!! OMFG!!! Do something for yourselves!

Ok, I better calm down...

So far I've read seasons 1 and 2 and I'm waiting for season 3 to progress a bit more (currently season 3 is halfway through).

I loved the story, the art is really beautiful, its obvious the author es very talented and its doing theirs best.

I can't wait to read about the new adventures of Kappa and Siren and the development of their love and relationship.

"Yes, he is a monster, but he is my monster".
A morally grey, obsessed vampire with anger management issues... Sold!

Ever since Lucien appeared in the first book of the series and then his brief encounter with Soren in the second I knew he would be my favorite and is, so far, the bad boy of the year!

Big
Grumpy
Muscular
Bad attitude
Obsessive
With french accent
Possessive
Insensitive to everyone except his mate... Of course he is my favorite!

And Jaime is exactly what Lucien needed to be happy. Destined mates is my favorite trope without a doubt and all the books in this series represent different scenarios of how a relationship between destined mates can develop and the plots are not repetitive or boring. Each one is different front the others.

Not what I expected, but better...

Contrary to what the name suggests, nothing is fine! The neighbors always seemed suspicious to me, I hate them! Damn Linda, because of her they "erased" poor Charlie, but guess what b*tch! Karma is a bigger b*tch! Linda and her husband deserve what they got.

I'm glad Sam and Maggie indirectly avenged poor Charlie.

Now I need answers, many answers!

This month I read the firts season on webtoon, but second season is already complete and I´m going to read it next month and hopefuly I will get answers.

Unsurprisingly, this book was a whirlwind of emotions, each stronger than the last. Needless to say, I absolutely adored every moment.

I loved seeing all the personal growth MB has gone through and how he is now able to admit and express his feelings.

I almost died when target said ART was "deleted".

I totally agreed with the idea of gutting and dismembering those responsible for "killing" ART.

Amena represents me in her work as "Celestine" and mediator between ART and MB

Murderbot Jr., AKA Murderbot 2.0, KillWare for his friends, is undoubtedly the son of MB and ART (inherited ART's black humor and MB's killer instincts), I was sad that he "died" 😭😭😭😭 😭

SecUnit 3, AKA Three for his friends, is the lost child that MB decided to rescue ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

At the beginning of the book I didn't like Thiago, but luckily he vindicated himself and I like him a bit now (Thiago is the annoying cousin of the family).

ART and MB's relationship is totally out of any definition of romance, yet it's so cute... I don't know how to explain it.

I love how they take care of each other, how they look for each other when they need help, how they are willing to kill, dismember and/or bomb a planet to rescue the other 🤣🤭🤭🤭

I love it, I just love them.

I chose Alice Oseman's books to meet the May challenge to read a Young Adult book, my plan was to read only the first one, just to meet the conditions of the challenge. But what a surprise I got!

I know there is a Netflix series based on the books and it was a Boom! when it came out, but, due to bad experiences, I usually stay away from series and books that go viral on social media.

The truth is that I liked the books, I read them in an afternoon and I could understand why the series went so viral. It's a pretty accurate representation of adolescent life at this time.

I don't have much to say about it other than I enjoyed them and I look forward to the next book.

I really loved the story, not only because the fuckbodies to lovers trope is my favorite, but also because of the development of Gabe and Alke. How they got to know each other and how their feelings grew. Both, at different points in the story, said: I want this; And they went after it despite the fear that they would be rejected and the nervousness of taking that first step or starting a conversation.

It's been quite a while since the last time a romance book made me cry, and more considering that this book is quite light, but oh god if I cried.

Romance aside, something I really liked was seeing Tam and Gabe's mother, little by little, changing her mind, understanding that although Tam chose a different path than she had imagined for him, it's not a bad thing, it's just different.

I look forward to the next book and hopefully I can see that Tam and his family getting close.

😯😯😯😯😯Wao!

I did not expect that turn of events and much less that ending.

I absolutely loved Murderbot´s personality. It is an insensitive, cynical, pessimistic with anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder (yes, both) who lives in a perpetual state of psychosis and stress, an absolute idiot by any measure. But when compared to the humans it's had to deal with I'm surprised it hasn't turned into a mass murdering psychopathic AI.

Instead of wanting to kill all humans, it prefers to spend much of his processing power watching TV series, listening to music, or reading, and the main reason it has no interest in engaging in mass murder full-time is because... well, if there are no humans... who is going to produce the next chapter of Sanctuary of the Moon?

Charting this book was challenging as I couldn't put simples on it ⭐, this book deserves bright and shining stars ✨, I couldn't use ❤️ either as there isn't even the slightest bit of romance (MurderBot is sickened at the thought of love or romance), so I used amazed kittens 🙀 to express my amazement and joy at the cynicism of MurderBot and angry cats 😾 to express my anger at certain injustices and emojis of a surprised girl to express my surprise at the end of the book.

So yeah, I loved.

Review

Damn ending! 😑

It makes sense that they didn't get together and that it would take a reincarnation a thousand years later for them to have their happy ending...

I understand... But it doesn't satisfy me.

I cried, oh god how I cried!

But I loved the story, of course I did.

Note: this book is originally in spanish, I don´t know if there is a english version.

The cover and the title totally grabbed me.

As for the story I am pleasantly surprised that, despite being a slow burn (which I usually avoid like the plague), it has me very trapped. And while I tend to prefer stories focused on the relationship of the characters, this one is more oriented to the slow development of that relationship and the adventures they have while they meet (or rather that they meet while living various adventures 🤭).

I loved, seriously seriously, I loved Tan. The dichotomy of his personality is... Uff something else.

-He is the most powerful dark sorcerer in the kingdom - Yes
-He can kill you in a varaety of "creative" ways - Sure
-He is funny, adorable and totally cute - Absolutely!

✨✨✨✨✨ The drama!

This manhwa is the lost son of a Mexican novel and a Brazilian novel 🙆🏻‍♀️🤭🤣🤣🤣

The first thing is not to look for mathematical logic to the time travel, that is not important, it happened and that's it. Once you put that aside, you can enjoy the story.

As for the story, I loved it. Ji Won and Jihyuk deserved to be happy and I'm glad they got it.

I loved the petty revenge that Jin Won got from her envious best friend and her traitorous husband, they definitely deserved that ending. They learned the hard way that karma is a spoiled bratt vengeful bitch and you shouldn't mess with her.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I really loved this story

I loved Pete and Chad, how Peter understood that to have a life with Chad he had to make certain changes and Chad in fact did not have to demand those changes, but Peter knew that they had to be made and he did it because Chad and his happiness are more important.

I have already read the books of the Omega 1-7 series and I know how this world and its society is built, and it is something that has surprised me and has filled me with existential doubts. 😵‍💫 It has made me question me things I usually don't think about when reading an omegaverse , and that's a good thing.

I'm glad the series is complete, so I can move on to the next book right away ✨✨

Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Merchant ❤️‍🔥🤤

Since book 0.5 I have loved Merchant and this book only confirmed that he deserved that love and gave me more reasons to love him.

It's a good ending to this series although I wish there were more books and to develop the theme of omega rights and the challenge that Peter won the alpha in charge of the omega Guardianship center, I think that would be a good way to get more freedoms for the omegas.

I was pleasantly surprised by Merchant's personality, he is a fluffy cupcake ❤️‍🔥🤤

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved!

I loved the story and getting to know a little more about Henri. Everything related to Priest hurt me a lot and on more than one occasion I wanted to kill him. On the one hand I am full of questions like: what if...?

What if Henri had changed his life before Julien showed up... Would we have had "The Princesse, the Ghost and the Priest"...?

But on the other hand I understand that Henri was not prepared to make that change in his life... Maybe Bailey was just what he needed or maybe not, maybe Robbie would have been a better option for Henri, considering how well they get along ... 🤯

Anyway... The story was good (which was no surprise, because Ella Frank), I liked Bailey and also Henri, I loved them both. ❤️‍🔥

Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was perfect

At first I had no faith in the story of these two... And I was totally wrong! I loved them from start to finish. I cried and suffered for Henri and all the things that have happened to him. I got pretty mad at Priest, but looking at things objectively, I understood that this is how everything should happen.

But...

What if... What if Julien had never tried to steal Joel's car...

What if Joel and Julien never met and when Henri came to LA to talk to Joel about their relationship and tell him that he doesn't like Joel hanging out with more people and Joel takes the opportunity to tell him that he doesn't want Henri to come back to New Orleans and that Henri has to organize his life...

What if they both try to have a relationship, but since they are both dominant they decide to invite someone more submissive from time to time to their beds...

What if one day, Henri meets Robbie at The Popped Cherry and falls for him and later Joel meets Robbie at the Logan&Mitchel offices (very similar to the original scene).

What if Joel's father kidnaps Robbie and Henri and Joel rescue him...

What if the names of the books were:
Robby
Henry
priest
The Princesse, The Phantom and The Priest

There are so many possibilities...

Please God enlighten Ella Frank to make us an alternate universe special 🥺🥺🥺

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I got scared

I wasn't expecting that plot twist, but it certainly makes sense as the latest victims didn't quite fit the MO... However they never explained why the killer stopped killing six years ago, they didn't say if he continued killing while in the army and he only lasted 3 years in the army, then he got out, but the question remains, why did he stop killing?

I also ran into other inconsistent and inclusive things, but I was still quite surprised by hijacking, I already knew that would happen, it was a bit too obvious, but it wasn't exactly the way I thought and liked it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best ending. best desicion of the year so far

Spending the first day of the year reading this book has undoubtedly been the best decision of the year haha. I cried, I got angry with some characters, others left me just surprised, very very surprise.

I loved Fenix (which is no surprise, I fell in love with the character since the Lust book). I loved everything about the story.

This book as a closing of the main plot was a rollercoaster of emotions. Although the author promises us an HEA, the story is also well done that at times I found myself fearing the end or fate of the characters.

And although I knew that Lucifer was evil and that his destiny was undoubtedly death, I found myself crying just like Pride. 😭🤧

Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ella Frank would be my death

It's the first book I've read where one of the characters is described as a transvestite and for a moment I thought I'd dismiss him just because of that, which would have been stupid, obviously.

As for the characters, I loved Bash, he super fun and effervescent, it knows what he's worth and doesn't let anyone doubt it. Kieran is a loving little bear, all big and strong, but with a big heart.

The story could be describe as Slow Burn, and given the context it makes sense that everything goes slowly and surprisingly I liked this.

As for the ending... WTF Ella!? I didn't expect such a sudden end.

But I loved it. 😍✨😍

Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This ending was total shit!

Really, I never thought that from Jay Kristoff I would read a story whose problems were solved with True Love

Don't f*ck me Jay! What the f*ck is that? 😵‍💫😡

The first two books were master piece, this one at the beginning with the time travel and the plot happening in the present, past and future at the same time, was breath taking at every moment.

At times I feared the death of one of the main characters. That fear was real!

But the ending was totally anticlimatic. I expected an epic battle in which Aurora and and the others would do their best to defeat the enemy once and for all, but... It all ended with a conversation... about true love 😐

And jut like that, the enemy understood that what it was doing, that its purpose in life was wrong and evil and decided to destroy himself...

Really!? 🤦🏻‍♀️😵‍💫😑

☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁

Uff, it was intense the month and we're just getting started  😮‍💨

As you can see, for me reading is a fairly immersive experience, in which I immerse myself totally. And that's why I end up living in my own flesh all the emotions and feelings of the characters.

Anyways, these are my favorite books of January, with Alastair being chosen as the best book of the month. If you want to see the chart with the best books of each month you will find them in the Book Challenge section.

Tell me, which are your favorites of the month?
