This year I decided, for the first time, to take a reading challenge. I had never done it before because the reading challenges that I had found on internet did not fit my tastes.
✨ An ABC Challenge: to read a book that begins with each letter of the alphabet, which must be read in order and the prepositions (The, A/An, etc ...) do not count.
✨ A Theme Challenge: where the books to choose must meet certain criteria, ranging from "read a book published in 2022" to "terror novel" or "cat in the title".
✨ A Gender Challenge: in this one I have to read books of specific genres, like science fiction, horror, romance, etc...
And maybe at this point you will say, "that's three Book Challenges, not one..." And you would be right... But the thing is that I'm one of those who thinks: "do it big or do not do it at all" π . And... the same book can meet several requirements.
For example, the book I chose for the H in the ABC Challenge also fulfilled the February challenge in the Theme Challenge... And that's not cheating, it's choosing wisely π
Another thing that I did not like very much about the generic reading challenges on internet is that they are very biased, since most of them concentrate only on classics and I'm not a fan of classics, I do not connect with those stories, so to do a challenge with that kind of books would be torture for me. π΅π«
That is why I created my own personalized reading challenge in which I have the genres that I like, genres that I would like to give a chance (like poetry), and in which I'm free to read a Book, a Comic a Manhwa, or Fanfic, and it also counts because it is a reading Challenge.
What about you, are you following any reading challenge? What stones on the road have you found at the moment of starting?
